Associate Professor ,Politecnico di Milano,Italy

Franca Castiglione is an associate professor at the Chemistry, Materials, and Chemical Engineering Department “G. Natta” at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy. She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Calabria (Italy) in 1999. After a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley, she joined Vicuron Pharmaceuticals INC. as a senior research chemist until 2007, then was hired by Politecnico di Milano. Her work focuses primarily on the design of novel drug delivery systems, with particular emphasis on the dynamics and release of small drug molecules. Her research often explores polymer-based systems, eutectogels and hydrogels contributing to a deeper understanding of structure-property relationships in novel materials, studied by NMR Spectroscopy. She is also interested in Xenon-NMR, studying the structure of materials using xenon gas as sensor. She is the author of more than 125 peer-reviewed publications, with an h-index of 31, and has delivered invited and plenary lectures at international conferences.
