Professor ,Durham University,UK

Professor Marek Szablewski graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc in Applied Chemistry, and his PhD from Cranfield University is in Molecular Electronics. In 1992, he took on a research post in the applied physics department at Durham University. His research, mostly funded by industry, included the development of new materials for telecoms, electronic paper and polymeric optical fibres and also composite materials which displayed quantum tunnelling phenomena. Becoming a full professor in 2021, he continues to research TCNQ materials, both for their optical and magnetic properties as well as new work on building 3-D structures from 2-D materials, i.e.. graphene.
