Dr. Viktoriia Shtefan

Viktoriia Shtefan is a research scientist at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research in Dresden, Germany, and a professor at the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" in Ukraine. She earned her first PhD in 2005 and a second doctoral degree (Dr.-Eng. habil.) in 2019. She specialises in applied electrochemistry and advanced surface engineering, with a focus on the anodic and micro-arc oxidation of valve metals, the cathodic deposition of corrosion-resistant and electrocatalytic alloys, and conversion coatings. At IFW Dresden, she investigates the electrochemical processing of metallic glasses for the development of functional materials. She is a co-author of peer-reviewed articles, patents and book chapters.
