Head of the Department of Physical Chemistry , AGH University of Krakow, Poland
Zbigniew Grzesik is a Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry and Modelling at Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics, AGH University of Krakow, with which his professional activities are associated. In 1993, he received his Ph.D. at AGH University. His scientific interests are related to high temperature corrosion and point defect chemistry. In the first area, he has been involved in determining the corrosion rate and mechanism for metallic materials in complex atmospheres containing, in addition to oxygen, sulfur, water vapor, chlorine and even fluorine, among other components. He has studied the oxidation resistance of new materials, e.g., thin protective coatings. He has also determined the concentration and mobility of point defects in transition metal oxides and sulfides, as well as high-entropy oxides. His current research focuses on designing a versatile, heat-resistant high-entropy alloys for use in multicomponent, aggressive high-temperature gas atmospheres.
